Background and History

A National Heritage

The New Horizons concept of organizing bands and music programs for older adults originated with Dr Roy Ernst from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.  Over 120 New Horizons music programs are now located across North America.  The web site for the national organization is   www.newhorizonsmusic.org/ 

In 2005,  NHBD became a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Association.

Founder

The New Horizons Band in Dallas (NHBD) was  organized in 1999 by Dr Dahryl Ramsey,  professor of music at the University of North Texas (UNT).
